Eric Poole joined the Howard University faculty in Fall 2015. Prior to joining Howard, Dr. Poole was Assistant Professor of Music, Department Chair of Visual & Performing Arts, and the Director of Choral Activities at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Eric earned his undergraduate degree in music from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, a Master of Music degree from Howard University, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Dr. Poole's nearly 20 years of experience as a conductor have provided him opportunities to work with singers of all ages. Previous appointments include Music Director and Conductor of the Shiloh Baptist Church Children's Choir and the Triad Tapestry Children's Chorus (Greensboro), high school choirs at T. Wingate Andrews (High Point, NC), and Eastern Guilford in (Gibsonville, NC), Music Director at St. Stephen United Church of Christ (Greensboro, NC), Saint Andrews United Methodist Church (Winston-Salem, NC), and conductor of the North Carolina A&T State University Choir and the UNCG Men's Glee Club.

Dr. Poole has prepared choruses for the Community Theatre of Greensboro's inaugural production of Beauty and the Beast, UNCG's Opera Theatre production of Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, and the UNCG Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performance of Franz Liszt's Faust Symphony. He has also served as a clinician for the Bennett College Choir and high schools around North Carolina.

The Department of Music Main Office summer hours are from 9 AM-5 PM Monday through Friday. The Department of Music does not have a summer session.
